Geological Section shewing the Order of Superposition and Maximum Thicknss of the Strata in the British Isles, n.d. but c.1890s. Colour print, 97.5 x 25.5cm (38.5 x 10 in) linen-backed paper in scroll on black lacquered axle with finials and sculpted hanging bar. Original tie ribbon and brass screw-eyes. Section partly detached from axle. Varnish is yellowed by not cracked. Ribbon edging intact except for loss on left side near axle. The section was published by Stanfords while they were in Cockspur Street which gives a time frame of 1888 to 1901. In good condition.

Hand coloured engraving 67 x 49cm, dissected, mounted on linen and folded between red embossed book-style cover with Stanford label with pre-1899 address. Slight foxing where map pasted to cover and advertising label, otherwise in very good condition.
