A separately published extract from the Transactions of the Geological Society of London, Second Series, v.4. pp104 to 400 including index + plates 7 to 23. Hardback, 30 x 23 cm, in original green cloth-covered boards with gilt leather title pastedown on spine. Corners bumped but otherwise little shelf wear. Text clean with wide margins. Occasional pen or pencil notes in different hands. Dedication from the Author, April 1843, Hythe, Kent, has dedicatee scratched out apparently by author. Penned annotations in text appear also to be by Fitton. Plates 7 to 10 are hand coloured sections and maps and remainder are fossil plates by JDC Sowerby. Large foldout plates include geological coloured coastal cliff panoramas (29 x 67 cm), map of SE England and Adjacent France with bathymetric sections across Channel (43 x 37 cm), miscellaneous detail coast sections, and views (29 x 74cm) and more long sections (29 x 152 cm). Colours clean and bright. In good to very good condition.
