Fitton, Wm Henry. 1847. Isle of Wight. ‘A Stratigraphical Account of the Section from Atherfield to Rocken End, on the South-west coast of the Isle of Wight’, an extract from the Proceedings of the Geological Society, v3, pt 1, pp.289 to 328. Includes inserted fold-out engraved long section, 17 x 72 cm, at 1:7200 scale, vertically and horizontally, with numbered points referred to in statistical table of fossil finds. The section was originally attached to the whole table from which it was separated by careless trimming during binding. The complete remainder of the table, 38 x 72 cm, was stapled into the binding. An second fold out figure of hand-coloured vertical sections of the Lower Greensand from other locations in England and France. Bound together with another extract from the same Proceedings; Mantell, GA, ‘Notes on the Wealden Strata of the Isle of Wight, with an account of the bones of an Iguanadon…’, pp 91 to 106. Clean text and figures, stapled into card cover. Rusting staples prevented table from unfolding and have been removed and replaced with spring clips. In very good condition.
