Sheet  17 part, Old Series 1". Dorset: Weymouth, Portland Bill. c1850-55. Hand-coloured engraving, 51 x 55cm, dissected, mounted on linen and folded to 17 x 13.5cm. Very neat surgery to reduce sea area, lose the west end of Chesil Beach and centre on Portland Bill, the border and legend have been very neatly relocated to look like a finished map. Age-toned and linen is frayed at edges and at fold intersections, but clean, bright colours and in fair to good condition.
