Mag and Annals (c.1830); and 2 copies of foldout topographic ‘Map of Charnwood Forest and Environs’ (c.1880s). Hardback. Brown cloth covered boards with leather half binding with gilt lettering to spine. Red finish to page edges. Shelf wear and title label partly missing, hinges and binding sound. Half title and title pages are bespoke letterpress. Text clean apart from the two foldout topo maps which are foxed with foxing transferring to adjacent pages. Bookplate of Sir Matthew I. Joyce, Privy councillor. In good to very good condition.
Map descriptions: 63nw and 63ne, hand-coloured, trimmed to 36.5 x 45cm, folded, minor tear at binding tab/point of attachment to binding, age-toned, clean – very good. Two copies of topo map as frontispiece and before Geol Survey maps, each 12 x 26cm, one inch to mile, foxed - fair. Phil. Mag. plate tipped in after title page, 12 x 21cm, five miles to inch, hand-coloured lithograph - good
