Hard-cover, 655 pp., 23.5 x15 cm, in original publisher’s plain boards and rebacked in nearly matching plain grey paper with original title paper label retained. Cover very bumped and worn. Plain end papers have pencil signature of James Edmondston, FGS, 1837 and neat technical drawing of rock hammer in pencil. Title page has library stamp of ‘Jas. Edmondston’s Library, 5th March 1852’. Untrimmed, pages are clean throughout. Dedicated to the Court of Directors of the United East India Company and the text for Macculloch’s lectures in the East India College for ten years. Apart from fair cover, in very good condition. Rare.
