Hardback, quarto, half leather bound, patterned paper covered boards with stamped gilt lettering to spine. Text untrimmed, and clean, apart from foxing to frontispiece, title and adjacent pages and pale water stain to lower right corner of several plates. The lithographed plates are very early English examples mostly prepared by Mary Ann Mantell from drawings by the author. Three of the plates fold out and five are hand-coloured. In good to very good condition. Rare.
