Paris: Hachette, 2^nd edition. 775pp. (1^st in 1868), volume 1 only of 2 (v2 concerns Oceans and Atmosphere). HB. Black simulated leather cloth-covered boards with leather half-binding. Gilt lettered label to spine. Very worn with tears to top of spine and corners bumped exposing card. Binding sound, although front end paper separated at hinge. Text age-tone, slight foxing to title page and 4-5 pages at front and back adjacent to boards. 230 maps/figures within text,  24 colour map plates – two geological, the rest topographical. In fair to good condition.
