Vol 2, 465pp + 4 plates of which 3 foldout including ‘The Volcanic Band of the Molluca and Sunda Islands (Indonesia and Philippines. Vol 3, 455pp + 3 plates of which one is hand-coloured geological ‘Map of Sicily’. Vol 4, 406pp + 6 foldout plates of which one is hand-coloured ‘Geological Map of the South-East of England’. All volumes are hardback, original black embossed leather half-binding of green cloth covered boards with gilt decoration on spine and gilt lettering on red leather spine labels. Spines of vols 1 and 4 faded, part of spine label of vol 1 is missing. Moderate shelf wear, binding sound. Endpapers faintly foxed with bookplates and later owner label. Library notation in vol 1 only, on free end papers, half title and back of title.Text is clean and unmarked. In very good condition.
The armorial crest of the bookplates belongs to the Bulkeley-Owen family. The owner in 1835 of these volumes would have been Thomas Bulkeley-Owen of Tedsmore Hall, near Oswestry, Shropshire.
