The main map is the high Andean Quito Plateau of Ecuador showing the volcano complexes of Pichincha and Antisana. It is surrounded by insets of the Pyrenees with cross-section a coral atoll (over subsided volcano), the volcano Gedee in Java, the Himalayas and a diagram of the comparative heights of the highest mountains. Quite a pastiche! Engraving with limited areas of hand colouring, 36x46cm. Flat with centre-fold, Slight age browning at edges. Clear plate impression. In very good condition.
