Folding is not neat, creased in centre, age-toned, tear with minor loss in lower right corner. Shows location of oil wells and network of service roads around Maidan-I-Naftun. Date derived from barely legible drawing office number in lower left margin ‘A.I.O.C., S.L. A?? MO41/Sept/54’. In fair condition.

Masjed Soleyman was the site of the first oil discovery and first oil well in the middle east in 1908 leading to the formation of the Anglo Persian Oil Co. IN 1909, subsequently in 1935 the AIOC and in 1954 British Petroleum.
