Hand-coloured lithograph 84 x 101cm, dissected, mounted on linen and folded to 22 x 15cm within dark blue embossed cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and black design on front. Together with tipped in ‘Description of the Geological Map of Sutherland’, 8pp. a reprint from the Geological Magazine, no.22, 1882, signed ‘From the Author’. Cover slightly worn. Map clean, colours bright. In very good condition.

From the map:’Intended to accompany his papers on the Geognosy of Sutherland in the Mineralogical Magazine. Heddle (1828-1897) was Professor of Chemistry at St. Andrews University and President of the Geological Society of Edinburgh.
