Colour printed lithograph 43 x 36cm, folded to 22 x 13cm within dark green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and design on front. Inset in upper right includes Shetland and Orkney Islands, four horizontal sections in margins. Colours bright, paper crisp white, splits along central horizontal fold neatly repaired with archival tape. Cover slightly worn. Map and cover in good to very good condition. Together with Explanatory Notes, dated 1862, bound to cover. Text lightly age-toned. Both names on title, but written in first person by Murchison.
