Hardback with greyish green cloth-covered boards and gilt lettering and image on front. This is the deluxe cover, generally the cover is brown. Moderate wear, corners bumped. Endpapers split at hinge but binding sound. Text clean, unmarked, slightly age-toned. In good to very good condition.  

Geology rates one paragraph on p226. Civil and mechanical engineering basics in 36pp introduction. When this volume was issued the GWR was constructed only as far as Twyford.

An anonymous portrait photo ‘book mark’ found in the text is included. The picture has been matched to an 1875 National Portrait Gallery photo of Samuel Plimsoll (1824-1898), MP, who devised the Plimsoll Line.
